Michael Rudd is chair of Bird & Bird’s Energy & Utilities Sector Group and a member of the firm’s global Sustainability Committee. He helps the public sector create and implement innovative green economy regulation and policy to change behaviour and stimulate investment and the private sector commercialise opportunities. In addition to the environmental and social benefits, this also stimulates economic benefits including infrastructure investment, R&D and the growth of disruptive business models. He has also advised on hundreds of green economy transactions. Michael co-edited “Renewables: A Practical Handbook” (2010), authored the energy management chapter in the Institute of Director’s book “Clean Tech Clean Profit” (2014) and co-authored the electricity regulatory chapter for Butterworths Competition Law Service from 2012 to 2020. He chaired the Environment Industries Commission’s sustainable smart cities taskforce (2014 to 2021) and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturers & Commerce.
